stories
· Barthes – Narrative contain 2 codes, e.g. ‘Rainy Day’
connotes a mood ; easily de-code (taking meaning) – Action code ; provide
questions/mystery – Enigma Code
· Action code give information & Enigma code

- Narrative involve a tension between two opposing ideas/ characters - good and bad character, e.g - the bad character will get punish in the end.
- For example - Civilisation versus wilderness & the wisdom of age versus the impulsivness of youth
- Masculinity and femininity - Males are tough while female are soft
