Videos can be said to fall into 3 modes -
• Performative: The artists dancing, singing
• Narrative: There’s a story-line
• Conceptual: It is telling a story but based on ideas and concept

Characteristics and features that can be found in music videos; Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics, e.g. stage performance in metal videos, dance routine for boy/girl bad, aspiration in Hip Hop.
There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals. The lyrics are resented with images, either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting. There is a relationship between music and visuals, the tone and atmosphere of the visual reflects that of the music.
